University of Southampton – BSc Web Science (Computer Science), 2015 to 2019 (expected)

Final year student in interdisciplinary study of how the Web shapes society and society shapes the Web, incorporating modules of Computer Science, Web Design, Sociology, Music, and more.

On course to graduate with 2:1, having averaged this grade across both first and second years. Completing dissertation on the Web and society’s influence over the digital-first media industry.

Perform Group – Cricket Analyst, March 2018 to present

For Perform subsidiary Opta, the official data partner of the ECB, I provide live scoring and data collection at domestic and international fixtures, with 10+ data points on each delivery. This is serviced to global clients including the BBC, bet365, Cricket Australia, and more. Based in Hove and have covered for colleagues from Kent to Cardiff. Includes ECB PMOA-D accreditation.

Surge Radio – Station Manager, July 2017 to June 2018; Host & Producer, September 2015 to present

Managing the University of Southampton’s award-winning student radio station, leading the 15-strong station committee and a team of over 200 volunteers broadcasting over 90 live shows each week. Responsibilities included event planning, publicity, budgeting, and co-ordinating show scheduling and studio training. Major projects included 36 hours of continuous live broadcasting covering the Jailbreak charity hitchhike (which raised over £6,800), working to expand the station’s audience and setting a record listenership in Q4 (doubled year-on-year), and a major studio/server overhaul, working to develop the station’s multi-platform presence by developing podcast-first programming and an Amazon Alexa skill. Personal recognition for this included a shortlisting for Outstanding Contribution to a Student Radio Station at the 2018 Student Radio Association Conference and the VP Democracy & Creative Industries Award for Behind-The-Scenes Work at the University of Southampton’s 2018 Excellence in Volunteering Awards.

The Edge Magazine – Records Editor, July 2016 to June 2017; Writer, September 2015 to present

Writer and section editor for the University of Southampton’s specialist entertainment publication. Committee responsibilities included arranging and sub-editing interview, review, and feature pieces for both print and online deadlines, and co-ordinating and conducting pieces with PR with major musicians/festivals. To date, I have published 167 pieces for the magazine, totalling over 100,000 words, and my writing was shortlisted in the Best Entertainment Piece category of the 2017 Student Publication Association Awards.

Bop Appreciation – September 2018 to present; Digixav – October 2011 to February 2016

Self-published writing, social content, and podcasts on pop music and technology respectively.

Interests, Skills & Proficiencies

Proficient with Adobe suite of software, including Audition, InDesign, Photoshop, and Premiere. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and using and running Squarespace and WordPress websites. Previously played bassoon to ABRSM Grade 6, including displays at three Lord’s tests as part of the school marching band.
